About us
Greenheart Management is a UK-based shipping company. Our team offers a wealth of experience providing commercial and operational shipping solutions to our customers, aligning strong environmental, social, and corporate governance with market-leading returns on capital.
Through work with our partners and industry associations, we review and adopt technologies and operational processes to support and enhance the performance of our fleet. The Greenheart team collaborates and uses each team member’s specific expertise and knowledge to achieve our shared objectives and goals on behalf of our clients and our fleet.
Origin of the Greenheart name
Our name derives from Greenheart timber. Greenheart is also known by its Latin name, Chlorocardium Rodiaei, and originates from South America.
Greenheart timber is one of the strongest hardwoods, making it ideal for use in marine environments. Over the centuries, it has been the preeminent timber for shipbuilding due to its high density and resistance to decay and aquatic organisms.
The Fram and the Endurance, made famous in the Polar expeditions of Amundsen and Shackleton, notably used Greenheart timber to sheath the ships and prepare them for the harsh polar environment.

We are proud partners of the Global Maritime Forum and the important work being carried out on initiatives regarding decarbonization and crew welfare. We are also a member of the Getting to Zero Coalition where more than 200 members actively partake in solution-driven discussions targeting the decarbonization of the maritime industry by 2050.
